Locations
Each wedding day usually begins with coverage starting with the Bride and her bridesmaids capturing the energy and excitement as they get ready. After that, I’ll head out to capture the groom and his groomsmen while they offer him final words of encouragement and consume cold beverages. The next major location is usually the ceremony location. Then after the ceremony and depending on the circumstances and how much time in between events, you may just have one major location for your wedding portraits or you may want to have multiple locations. Then finally comes the grand finale at the reception venue if applicable.
Regarding the wedding portraits (family, bridal party and bride/groom) you may want to try getting some great urban photos along with some more nature inspired images to provide a nice balance. If many locations is a big priority for you, you will need to allocate more time to your schedule. What I do not recommend is letting “locations” get in the way of great portraits. What I mean is that I would rather have just one location and get more relaxed time, perhaps walking around more to find some cool spots, rather than getting wrapped up in trying to fight traffic and time that can lead to everything feeling rushed. I am always happy to work with you to help you to choose a unique, and relaxing location based on your ceremony and reception venue along with your style preferences.
Travel Time
If you are getting married in a city (particularly the west end), you MUST budget appropriate travel time. In the summer, you should be particularly mindful of festivals, parades, concerts, etc. and you guessed it – the dreaded construction blitz that will impact your travel to locations. Aside from any large events that might interfere with travel time, it just always takes a little while longer than many couples imagine to get from Point A to Point B, particularly when you’re waiting on that one family member that is always running late
As always, have fun and relax!
