Happy Halloween

November 3, 2008

We had a great time with trick-or-treating on Friday and the weather was great, couldn’t have asked for better. Our friends Dave and Cheri came over with their little pumpkin, I just want to pinch those cheeks! At this age they’re not really into eating the candy yet (thankfully), and they seem more interested in just playing with it. That’s fine with me, as I get first dibs on the stash!

Enjoy

Pumpkin time

October 30, 2008

Here are a few recent photos of us out by Lynde Shores in Whitby, and yes the weather was so nice I had to wear shorts for one last time of the year. After that we headed to little farm just north on Garden street in Whitby to get our pumpkins. We ended up getting a mommy one, a daddy one and a little baby one as he would say.

After that we headed home and began the carving operation. It was a lot of fun, mostly just to see the look on his face. Check it out.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Megan and Kevin for an engagement session in Whitby, and even though it was getting cold out we still had a great time. These two are totally comfortable with each other and it shows.

Here are just a few favourites from their session.

She’s getting so big

October 24, 2008

I had the chance to go back recently and have a session with Shannon, Shawn and their little girl Taryn and I can’t believe how big she is now. It’s amazing how fast they change I’m looking forward to seeing her throughout the year as part of her baby first year plan.

Mom and dad had so much fun cuddling her and just loving her up, and it made for some great photos. Here are some of my favourites.

Construction continues…

October 21, 2008

It’s amazing to see how quickly the progress is happening here and I can start to get a sense of how the space is going to look. We decided to use aluminum studs for the framing and I’m happy to report that there is virtually no mess. Once the drywall contractors come in that will be another story, but so far so good. The next step is to run all the cabling for the phone, network, TV etc, and then the electrician will be installing the outlets, and fixtures.

As for an overall completion date…it keeps changing so you’ll just have to keep checking in and following along with us.
In the meantime, I will be doing wedding consultations either at an alternate location or in your home depending on the circumstances here. Thanks again for your patience.
Here are some new photos with the framing in place.

The last month has been really crazy, so I’m going to try and give you a quick update on what I’ve been up to and what’s on my mind. First and most exciting is that we’re renovating the basement so that I can move my office down there into a larger space. As it is now, I’m using a spare bedroom as an office space and I’m quickly out growing it. We’ll also have a space for a client meeting area which I can’t wait to get up and running. We have some contractors doing some of the work so the house is in chaos right now, but I’m sure it will be worth it when it’s done. I’ll be sure to post photos of the progress so check back often.

Fall is here and will be gone soon, so I’m trying to squeeze as many outdoor sessions in as I can. The weather has been decent but is quickly getting really cool and it’s getting dark so soon. It reminds me of the days I used to take the GO train to work downtown. You know, you leave in the morning and it’s dark, and then you get home and it’s dark. I can’t say that I miss those days.

I’ve been working on getting more sample albums and wall portraits and those have been coming in. These albums and canvas prints have to been seen to be appreciated, which is why I can’t wait for the meeting area to be finished… can you tell I’m excited!!

If you’ve been getting emails from me at what seems like crazy hours, it’s not your imagination. Lately I’ve been falling asleep when Jayden goes to bed, and then I’ll wake up a few hours later and then work for a few more hours. I can’t help it, I love what I do. I had this issue in college too where I would only get a few hours sleep each night and still manage to work, goto school (and party), but eventually I’ll have to learn to pace myself.

I’m going to be offering a gift certificate promotion in the coming weeks so be sure to check back for that. It seemed to be really popular last year and a lot of people took advantage of it as it’s a great gift for someone that’s looking for a portrait session or as a gift towards a wedding package.

If you’d like to order prints so that they’re ready in time for Christmas, please be sure to contact me and have your order placed by November 30.

UFC 89 is on Spike TV tomorrow and it looks like a good card. What I’m really waiting for is UFC 90 where Anderson Silva is matched up against Patrick Cote. This should be a good match and hopefully Cote can pull out an upset. You can check out the cards for both events at the main site here UFC 89/90.

Here are a few before shots of the basement (ugly I know).

Day at the beach

September 29, 2008

It’s no secret that I love shooting outdoors, and as summer is winding down I’ll take any chance I can get to have an outdoor session, especially given the summer we’ve had.

As part of the baby first year plan, where we’ve have sessions at the newborn, 4 month, 8 month, and then at 12 months, this was Stephanie and Jeff’s second session with their little baby girl. The first session was a little rocky as she wasn’t feeling very well, but since then she has completely changed since the last time I saw her, and is growing up to be quite the diva.

Here a few favourites from the session.

Twins!

September 28, 2008

I just wanted to say congrats to my good friends Jay and Raina who had twins recently.
When I got the news initially I couldn’t believe it, but now I have photos that prove it.
I can’t wait to see them as they grow up together.

Morning in the park

September 10, 2008

Here are a few favourite images from a family session with Shannon, Shawn and their little boy Nicholas. As the whole family is used to getting up really early, we decided it would be best to have an early morning session. With an early session the light is nice and soft, not harsh like the mid-day sun.

Just spending a little time with this family I could feel how much love they have for their little boy. He’s so sweet and don’t you just love his innocent look!

Enjoy

This past Saturday was Jayden’s second birthday and I still can’t believe it. I can still clearly remember two years ago, holding him in my arms just after my wife gave birth, and now look at him.

We started the day opening presents, and then thankfully the weather was great so we decided to head out to Whittamore’s farm in Markham. It was our first time there, and I was really impressed. There’s lots to do there for the kids and adults too. After that we headed home for the afternoon nap and then finally cake and ice cream.

Here are a few favourites.

We had to get an Elmo cake courtesy of Carolyn.

Of course Elmo didn’t last long when a 2 year old is wielding a knife.
