MJP Photography New Website

October 12, 2010

Finally, the new website is here. After a long road, endless hours, I’m happy to say it’s up. One thing I’ve realized is that nothing is ever actually finished, it’s always a work in progress but that’s cool. I wanted my new site to be clean, easy to use, highlight and bring focus to my images, and I feel that I’ve accomplished that.

While the website was being updated, I also wanted to refresh and bring life to my logo so I had that redesigned as well. Take a look below and visit the new site at MJP Photography

Rather than do multiple posts I thought I would just do a brain dump today and let you in on what’s going on lately. There’s never a time when I’m not pumped about wedding photography and besides family and kids I go to bed thinking about it and wake up doing the same thing. This month though is going to be a little different I’m sure, and we’ll see how it turns out. I promise to keep posting and let you in on the updates as they happen, both personally and with the business.

A little while ago we took Jayden to his new school for an orientation session where they do a meet and greet with the teacher’s and staff etc and I had one of those moments that you never expect to have. It hit me again at that moment walking down the halls of the school, that I’m a parent – OMG! It’s a little difficult to explain but I started to have flash backs of when I was in school and eventually came to the realization that I’m now on the other end and have to attend the parent teacher meetings. My only hope is that he gets a better report than I did, which shouldn’t be that hard really. icon smile Random thoughts and business updates

With regards to the business, I love change. It’s not that I don’t like the offerings that I have for my clients now, but as I mentioned I’m constantly thinking about how to improve things and what I can offer you to improve your experience. So with that I’ll list below some changes that I have planned and am working and hope to have ready by October.

- Fresh new website. I’ve had the main site for a couple of years and it’s served well, but I want to improve the feel of the site, make it more friendly to view on different devices like smart phones, iPads, and be able to handle different screen resolutions more transparently. I’m really excited, with the new one and I’m sure you’ll love it. Having said that, the amount of work that needs to be done terrifies me.

- New logo and branding. I’ve debated back and forth about this but I figured if I’m going to launch a new site which is a huge part of how clients view my work and myself, than I want to freshen things up a bit. This will also include new business cards and helpful information for wedding clients such as an album information guide.

- New album offering. I’m super excited to have a new album available to my clients and am crazy about the design options it’s going to give. If you’re coming over for a wedding chat you’ll definitely want to see this sample!

- Additional options. In keeping with what I’ve said already, my goal is to offer my wedding clients an awesome experience and this means from the beginning of our initial contact to the time that you see your final package (of course we’ll still be friends after so you can always hit me up or send me a message on FB!). I have available now some cool new thank you cards and other items that can complement your main package if you wish.

- This month I have a couple of weddings where I’ll be showing some of the best photos from the wedding day during the reception. I’m working on a system now that I should be able to have this ready to go at a reception within 20-30 min, which is my goal. I’m crazy excited about this and we’ll see how it goes. If it goes really well, I’ll look at a way to offer this to all clients if I’m staying for the reception.

Finally with all of these changes I’m beginning to see things differently when I photograph weddings now. I know that a major part of this has to do with some of the wedding workshops that I attended recently and they have really helped me to see where I want to go and what I want to bring to the table for my wedding clients. In terms of the type of images that I want to capture, I want to show my clients as they’re having fun with each other and their friends and family, as well as showing the love and connection with their new husband or wife. There are always a number of soft, intimate moments at a wedding and my hope is that you’ll remember those times when you look at your photos.

That’s all for now.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2010! On behalf of my family and myself, I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the past year. I got to know some great people this year and I’m really looking forward to all of the amazing weddings that I’m going to be a part of in the coming year, I can’t wait.

I’d like to wish everyone a safe and great 2010!

happy Happy New Year!

What’s Up…

December 3, 2009

I just wanted to share a quick post on what’s going on. To start, I’ve created this new blog which I’m really excited about. My goal is to make it easier for clients to find me, to find what they’re looking for and to get a sense of who I am. I’m still in the process of migrating from the old site so your patience is appreciated.
This will definitely won’t be the final look of the site, but I had to get started sometime and with something.

That’s it for now so check back soon.

Message not received?

June 2, 2009

Over the past month or so I’ve seen a huge increase in the amount of junk email that I’ve been receiving and while I like to have a full inbox I’m getting a little tired of the messages urging me to buy this or that. As a result, I’ve been working with my host provider to try and block most if not all of the junk messages.

This leads me to the bigger issue of spam and email filters in general. There may be instances where you may send me a message from your Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo mail account and I may never receive it. It may get inadvertently blocked and would never know. Likewise, I may send you an email and it may end up in your spam or junk mail folder. Now I promise that I’m not sending out spam messages, but please do check your junk or spam folder from time to time.

Bottom line is that if you’ve sent me an email and you don’t get a reply back within 24 hours, something is wrong. Unless I’m away for the day shooting or on personal business, I almost always respond to an email within a few hours, if not sooner. The best way to contact me would be to give me a call at 905-924-1730 so we can chat, I promise I don’t bite. Otherwise, please use the contact form on the main website at MJP Photography and include all of the good details.

Back at it.

May 25, 2009

Ok here we go again. I have to first say that I’m sorry for not updating this blog in a long while. I fell off the blog wagon, literally. We’ll I’m back on now and there is so much to update you all with I won’t be able to tell you everything in one post. Over the upcoming days and weeks I’ll bring you up to speed with what’s been going on around here, what’s new with MJP Photography, and what I have in store for my clients.

First, the renovations are complete for the most part. To say things didn’t go as planned would be an understatement but looking at the upside we’re happy with the results. As you’ll see from the photos below, we’re still in the process of getting the place furnished but its coming. If you’re planning your wedding and would like to setup a time to meet with me, please let me know and you’re more than welcome to come over.

You may also be looking at the walls and be thinking that Mike, the walls are bare. Where are all of your photos? Patience grasshopper, I’m in the process of sourcing a supplier that will install a hanging wire system on the blank wall (last photo) so that I’ll be able to easily show some beautiful prints and be able to update and change them easily.

I’ve come to accept the fact of life that there will always be something to do, nothing is ever actually complete, but that’s ok, and I’m ok with that now.

Check back soon.

Construction update

January 30, 2009

For my readers that follow this blog you’re probably wondering what happened with the construction project. Well let me say here that I haven’t forgotten about it, and I didn’t stop working on it but it has definitely been on hold for way too long. The story unfortunately is way too long for me to even get into here, and I really don’t want to relive the pain. For those that don’t know me I’m being sarcastic here. Seriously it has been crazy and this should have been finished months ago but here we are and it’s almost February.

Now for some good news. I went and paid a visit to the new Lowes on the corner of Taunton and Garrard and I am pleased to announce that the flooring is now in the building. Over the course of this weekend I hope to have it fully installed so if all goes well I’ll have some photos to share with you soon. After that I just have to finish some trim work and then we can start setting up. I can’t wait!!
