I’ll never get lost again!

December 28, 2007

I hope I never got lost again is what I meant. For those that don’t know me l have to admit I have a pretty bad sense of direction. It’s to the point where I’m sure the gas station attendants are sick of me asking them for directions.

Having said that my lovely wife bought me a Garmin nüvi unit for Christmas in the hopes that I might find my way. The company calls these “portable street navigators” for your car, and I’m really hoping it works the way I think it will. It comes preloaded with city maps for Canada and the northern U.S. border states and you just need to have an address and postal code and it will tell you how to get there.

For the longest time like most people I’ve relied on mapquest.com or
maps.google.com for directions but it gets to be a hassle especially with all of the driving that I do from session to session. I can see something like this being really useful for weddings where I have to drive to multiple locations on the same day. I haven’t used it yet, but I have played with it for a few minutes and it seems relatively easy to use. I’m going to a family function in Mississauga tomorrow night so I will try it out and see how to works.

Here are some photos of the unit,

Mike

Christmas morning

December 27, 2007

Well another Christmas has passed and it was really nice to spend some time with our little guy and families.

Last year our little guy wasn’t able to sit up or anything and it’s really cool this year as he’s able to move around and interact with us. Of course at this young age he’s more interested in the wrapping paper and boxes than the actual content, but I’m sure that will change next year. Here are a few photos from Christmas morning.

Enjoy,

Mike

Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2007

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday this year.

Please enjoy this time with your family and friends, and hopefully everyone will get some time to relax and unwind.

All the best,

Mike

Baby session.

December 22, 2007

People often ask me what to expect from a newborn session, and my answer is always “you never know”! Any parent will tell you that every baby is different and being so young they’ve already had a couple of eventful first weeks of life, so it’s completely understandable that they might be a little moody during the session. I mean how would you feel if someone stripped you down to your diaper and took photos of you? icon wink Baby session.

In the end it all works out and I always want the parents and baby to be as relaxed as possible and to take as many breaks as they or the baby need.

Here are some of my favourite photos from a recent baby session. Even though he wasn’t feeling that well during the session, Mom and Dad were relaxed and hung in there. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him as he grows over the next year.

Congratulations again to Mom, Dad and the rest of the family!

Enjoy,

Mike

Let it snow!

December 17, 2007

I haven’t seen this much snow in a long time and I’m sure a lot of people woke up this morning with a sore back. I look forward to the day when my little guy can come and help daddy shovel the driveway.

I was supposed to go to the mall and do some Christmas shopping but like most we were forced to stay in. I’m actually doing a lot more shopping online these days and I love the convenience and speed, but you have to watch out for shipping and additional charges especially if you’re buying from the U.S.

I recently received some more sample products that I’m really excited about, and I think they look awesome. If you have an upcoming session and are interested in seeing products that are different from the standard prints, let me know and I’ll bring some samples. I’ll definitely post some photos of these when I get a chance.

I have one more baby session before the Christmas break and then I’ll be taking some time off to relax. I’m going to see if I can go an entire day without sitting in front of my desktop or laptop. In the meantime, I’m going to finish some more editing and I’ll try and post some more photos to the Blog in the next few days.

Take care,

Mike

Fun in the snow!

December 8, 2007

Here are some recent photos of our little guy playing in the front yard the other day. It really wasn’t that cold outside but as you can see we bundled him up as if he was about to go out in a blizzard. I actually feel kind of bad for little kids that have to wear these snow suits as they can barely move. He reminds me of the Michelin man….mini me style!

I can’t wait until we can take him tobogganing, but that probably won’t be until next year when he’s a little bigger. In the meantime we’ll settle for just rolling around and eating the odd handful of snow.

Take care,

Mike

I know I know, it’s not even that cold yet, but I guess I don’t want to face reality. I don’t ski myself, but at least this weather is good for the resorts and trails. I remember this time last year it looked as though we weren’t going to get any snow, and most resorts in the area were facing their worst year ever. Oh well, this just means more inside projects for Mike…which means a freshly revised “honey-do” list ;-(

I really love doing outdoor sessions, especially when the lighting is nice and soft and I’m able to move around freely. Here are some photos from a fall session of a little girl that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing since she was a newborn…actually before she was born.

Take care and please drive safely,

Mike
